GMF condemns UN's side event on Manipur crisis

New Delhi, Sep 27 (UNI) The Global Manipur Federation (GMF), representing the global Manipuri diaspora on Wednesday "strongly" condemned the recent side event at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva, saying "interference in India's internal affairs is unacceptable".
"We have observed that certain religious groups are attempting to misrepresent the present crisis as a Christian-Hindu conflict which began in May, as an attempt to frame it as a religious conflict is misleading," said GMF in a statement.
The event, hosted by The World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) on behalf of a coalition of NGOs, has raised concerns regarding its impartiality and its implications for Manipur and India said GMF.
