Girri urges Smriti to declare Adi Shankaracharya's birth anniv as Philosophers Day

New Delhi, Jun 28 (UNI) BJP MP Maheish Girri today urged Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani to declare Shankara Jayanti -- Adi Shankaracharya's birth anniversary as Philosophers day.
Mr Girri, who is himself associated with spiritual organisation Art of Living, made this request while forwarding a letter, received from VR Gowri, Administrator, Sringeri Math, to the HRD Minister.
Calling Adi Shankaracharya the 'leading light of Indian spiritual traditions', the East Delhi MP said, ''Millions across the globe have adopted him as one of the greatest philosophers of all times.''
