Jammu, Nov 6 (UNI) Prof Barbara Reinhold and Dr Thomas Hurek, University of Bremen, Germany on Monday visited University of Jammu and had interaction with the Prof R D Sharma, Vice Chancellor.
During the discussion various ideas about the teaching and research in higher education were discussed.
Prof Reinhold and Dr Hurek, University of Bremen, Germany were on ten day visit to School of Biotechnology, University of Jammu.
The visit was in connection to the project, sanctioned to Prof Jyoti Wakhlu and Prof Barbara Reinhold, funded by both Indian and German governments under DST-DAAD exchange programme for collaboration between Scientists in Germany and India.
The project is on the study of Saffron, as it is an important crop of the state.
The objective is to study plant –pathogen –bio-control interaction in saffron and develop the corm rot resistant varieties in future.
The researchers also visited Bhaderwah Campus of the University and interacted with Rector Bhaderwah Campus, Prof G M. Bhat, a well-known geologist of the state.
