Gene Dangers of our Artificial Times

Kolkata, Sep 9(UNI)`Who would know that carbonophilic steam desire would be resurrected to save a banjaxed population,’ writes Rajat Chaudhuri author of the compelling new novel 'The Butterfly Effect', which dovetails dystopian Asian settings to a cabinet full of quests, ultimately pointing to the dangers we embrace by taking nature for granted.
The population of `Darkland', a future Asian superstate, is badly broken by an illness for which no cure exists and the roots of which are shrouded in mystery. Steam trains have been put into service as diesel is scarce and power stations have gone into a tailspin possibly because of the lack of healthy people to run them. In this setting of a dystopian Asian city, we find a cynical character called Captain Old, who is somewhat of a street fighter crossed with a hired assassin, venturing out to meet a white man who is bringing him a secret which could change the dismal state of affairs.
Soon Captain Old will get drawn into intrigues bigger than what he had bargained for. But his story cuts off at a cliffhanger and we are drawn into other stories and other settings where we find a detective in present day Calcutta assigned a case involving the disappearance of an Indian tourist group in South Korea.
