Gadre introduces new range of products for Goan market

Panaj, Sep 1 (UNI) Gadre, premium seafood company that has been operating for over three decades, today announced that it has expanded its operations in Goa with seafood menu solutions for the HORECA (Hotels, Restaurants and Caterers) segment.
Addressing a press conference here, Arjun Gadre, managing director, Gadre Marine Export Pvt Ltd, said, ''People come to Goa to enjoy seafood and we have the best product range which offers best pricing, quality and convenience. Fish is considered to be most difficult meat to deal with, in terms of its delicate texture, the amount of time required for its cleaning and preparation. Gadre ready to cook product range is available consistently throughout the year maintaining the quality and improving kitchen efficiency. Product range can be prepared within five minutes where normal preparations take 20-25 minutes.
''We have announced operations in Goa aiming at the beach shacks and restaurant business with seafood menu solutions,'' he informed.
In the organised sector, the market of frozen snack food, including chicken, meat, was close to about Rs 2,500 to 3,000 crore in India, he said and informed that step by step the company was getting more consolidated products.
While frozen category was growing at the rate of 30-45 per cent, the company was registering annual growth of 70-80 per cent, he said and pointed out that the company was close to doubling market share every year.
''But we would like to grow more than double because base is small. We are targeting close to 350 metric tonnes of sales in India this year. For coming season we are targeting to sell at least 100 metric tonnes. Most of our business in India is in retail. We are starting with HORECA. There is lot of market for HORECA products. In fact there is market for every kind of product,'' he said.
Mr Gadre said the latest launches included Crab Sticks, Crab Claws, Shrimp Triangles, Crumbed Fish Finger and Pop Corns, Jumbo Seer Fish Steak and Tilapia Fillets.
Mr Gadre said the company had presence in 20 cities in the country and was targetting big cities rather than regions.
''Bigger growth is coming by just penetration into the cities. We are at around 60 to 70 stores in Goa but if that gets increased to 150 stores then obviously it will not double but there would be substantial increase in the sales,'' he said.
The company has three plants at Ratnagiri (Maharashtra), Chorwad (Gujarat) and Brahmwar (Karnataka). It exports Surmai and other fish products to Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia, Korea and Australia.
