Fundamental changes required to mitigate natural disasters: Suresh Bhardwaj

Shimla, Sep 22(UNI) Himachal Pradesh Urban Development Minister Suresh Bhardwaj on Tuesday presided over a webinar on Sustainable and Safe Hilly Area Development with focus on earthquake, landslide and floods.
The webinar was organized jointly by the National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) and the Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (HPSDMA).
Suresh Bhardwaj said that more than 58 percent of the world's landmass and about 21 states and four union territories of the country are susceptible to natural disaster. Areas of the Himalayan regions and the Western Ghats are among the highly landslide affected areas. Himachal Pradesh is also very prone to natural disaster.
