Paris, Oct 27 (UNI) India's singles campaign at the French Open Badminton tournament ended on Friday night, as top shuttlers Saina Nehwal, P V Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth lost their respective quarterfinal matches at the Stade Pierre de Coubertin.
In the men's singles quarterfinal match, defending champion Srikanth lost to World No 1 Kento Momota of Japan, losing in straight games 16-21, 19-21, further adding to his 6 match losing streak against the World champion. This year alone, five losses of Srikanth’s 14 have come against Momota.
World No 2 P V Sindhu, who is going through a difficult phase, after winning the silver medal in Jakarta Asian Games, bowed down 13-21, 16-21 to Bingjiao He of China in the women's singles quarterfinal.
