French composer Michel Legrand dies

Paris, Jan 27 (UNI) French Oscar-winning composer Michel Legrand has died at age 86.

Legrand won his first Academy Award in 1969 for the song "The Windmills of Your Mind" from the film "The Thomas Crown Affair". After that, he won Oscars for his music in the 1972 film "Summer of '42'" and "Yentl" in 1984.

Legrand passed away during the night, his spokesman told on Saturday.

During his career, the composer worked with the likes of Miles Davies, Ray Charles, Orson Welles, Jean Cocteau, Frank Sinatra, and Edith Piaf.

He was scheduled to stage concerts in Paris this summer, said the media reports.
