Free connection to BPL households in UP; Plan to revamp state power sector in next 24 months

New Delhi, Mar 25 (UNI) Free electricity connections will be given to the urban and rural BPL households and to APL households at reasonable EMIs in Uttar Pradesh.
These electricity connections would be given without any discrimination on caste or religious lines and would be based on the latest Socio-Economic Census data, Minister for Power Piyush Goyal announced here today after chairing a meeting with UP Minister of Energy, Shrikant Sharma and other senior officers of the State Power Department
It was also decided in the meeting that the State of UP would sign the “Power for All” document with the Centre by mid-April, 2017.
