Fourteen fishermen held for fishing illegally in Gahiramatha Marine Sanctuary

Kendrapara, Dec 08 (UNI) The Gahirmatha Marine Sanctuary personnel today arrested 14 fishermen and seized two fishing trawlers on the charges of catching fish illegally in the ‘No fishing zone’ of Gahirmatha marine sanctuary.
The forest personnel also seized 5.3 Quintals of fish catch, 14 fishing nets, VHF and GPS sets from their possession said Gahirmatha Marine Sanctuary, ACF Arabinda Mishra,
Mr Mishra said the forest officials came across two Paradip-based fishing trawlers- Padmalaya-4 and Gopaljew 5 –while catching fish illegally near Hukitola coast and intercepted the trawlers and arrested the fishermen.
