Muzaffarnagar, Sep 15 (UNI) Four notorious criminals were arrested after an encounter with police in the Bhopa area in this district of Uttar Pradesh, police said on Sunday.
Acting on tip-off, Bhopa police intercepted some suspects at Kameda turn late Saturday night but they opened fire on police team in which constable Shahid was injured.
In retaliatory firing, a criminal, identified as Mehtab, was injured.
Police arrested Mehtab and his three accomplices Mehraj, Islam and Rishabh in connection with theft and loot cases.
The injured were rushed to hospital.
