Four power projects operational on River Chenab, seven more proposed: J&K Dy CM

Jammu, Jan 22 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh on Monday said a comprehensive Relief and Rehabilitation policy has been formulated for the affectees of three Power projects i.e. Pakal Dul, Kiru and Kawar in Kishtwar district wherein Rs 33 lakh would be provided for undertaking the construction for individual house.
He said that the extent of stamp duty would be limited to Rs 25,000 besides providing an amount of Rs 40,000 for construction of work shed and 25,000 for cattle shed and providing a scholarship of Rs 1,000 per month for undertaking studies of the children of the affected families has also been formulated.
Replying to the discussion held on a question raised by Sajad Ahmad Kichloo in the Upper House, the Deputy Chief Minister said there were four power projects with 1680 MW cumulative capacity operational on River Chenab, while as seven more projects having total capacity of 5388 MW have been proposed to be constructed on the river flowing through Chenab Valley comprising Kishtwar, Doda and Ramban districts.
