Chandigarh, Dec 27 (UNI) With the consistent efforts of the Haryana government in the last four years to bring reforms in the power sector along with transparency, all the four power companies of the state have not only emerged from the losses but have also earned profit for the first time since the inception of the state.
Besides this, Annual Integrated Rankings of DISCOMs (issued by Union Ministry of Power) has also recorded remarkable improvement. The ratings of UHBVN which was 22nd during financial year 2015-16 has come to 10th during financial year 2016-17.
Similarly, the rating of DHBVN which was 24th during financial year 2015-16 has come to 13th during financial year 2016-17.
Efforts would be made to bring these to first three positions in the rating for the year 2018-19.
Revealing this during a press conference regarding the reforms and achievements of power sector during the last four years here on Thursday Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar while giving details said that the present state government is the first such government since inception of Haryana which has reduced power tariff and FSA.
He said that the power tariff has been reduced to almost half due to which there has been considerable reduction in electricity bills of domestic consumers.
Now the domestic consumers with consumption up to 200 units would get power at the rate of Rs 2.50 per unit. Earlier it was Rs 4.50 per unit up to 150 units and Rs 5.25 per unit for next 50 units.
Now the consumer would have to pay only Rs 2 per unit for monthly consumption of 50 units.
The Chief Minister said that as a result of the concrete steps taken towards power reforms in last four years, tariff for non domestic consumers has been reduced by 6.80 per cent and tariff for LT and HT Industrial consumers has been reduced by five per cent from 2014.
Subsidy of Rs two per unit has been given to Industries up to 20kW located in C and D Blocks from November 1, 2018.
He said that the state government has launched a scheme for settlement of arrears of electricity bills of defaulting domestic consumers (having Whole Current Meters) and non-domestic consumers (with sanctioned load of 5 kW or less), connected as well as disconnected, both in rural and urban Areas.
Under the scheme the arrears of bills before 2005 have been completely waived off.
The principal amount of all such consumers who opt for the scheme, shall be recalculated from the date of default till June 30, 2018 as per the Supply code i.e. for domestic consumers at the rate of 40 units per KW per month in rural areas and 50 units per KW per month in urban areas, for non-domestic consumers at the rate of 75 units per KW per month in rural areas and at the rate of 150 units per KW per month in urban areas, without FSA, at the current applicable tariff (without subsidy). So far 8,12,157 consumers have opted for the scheme including 3,80,917 consumers under UHBVN and 4,31,240 consumers under DHBVN.
He said that bill amounting to Rs 1952.70 crore have been settled, thus consumers had been benefitted by Rs 1699.96 crore.
He said that about 30,000 to 35,000 consumers are opting for the scheme every day. The scheme is applicable up to December 31, 2018, he added.
