Los Angeles, Jan 17 (UNI) Four people were shot dead at a residence in Grantsville, a town of about 10,000 people in the state of Utah, local police said on Saturday.
There is no threat to the public since the suspect has been arrested, Grantsville Police Cpl. Rhonda Fields told reporters outside the house where the shooting occurred adding that they are confident that there was only one shooter, however, she could not immediately release the ages or names of the victims or suspect. She said that the incident happened at around 0730 hrs (IST).
Utah State Governor Gary Herbert expressed his sorrow in the aftermath of the shooting in Grantsville, a town located approximately 35 miles southwest of the state's most populous city, Salt Lake City.
"Our hearts are broken by the horrible news coming out Grantsville tonight. We mourn over the loss of innocent lives," Herbert tweeted.
The governor also stated that state officials were assisting local police with the investigation into the shooting, and also called on citizens to secure their firearms.
