Four Independent candidates withdraw from Dharamshala MC Polls

Dharamshala, May 7 (UNI) Four independent candidates contesting the Municipal Corporation elections in Dharamshala withdrew their nominations on the last day for withdrawal, leaving 54 candidates in the electoral fray.
Returning Officer and SDM Mohit Ratan said the candidates who withdrew were from wards 8, 13, 14 and 15. He informed that out of the remaining candidates, 34 are contesting on the symbols of the BJP and Congress, while the others are in the fray as independents.
He said election symbols such as “Rising Sun”, “Car” and “Lock and Key” have been allotted to independent candidates. The Returning Officer also clarified that, as per Election Commission guidelines, each candidate can spend a maximum of Rs one lakh on election campaigning.

BJP Warns of Kangra Mini Secretariat Gherao Over Delay in Road Repairs

Lieutenant Governor chairs a high-level review meeting on preparations for Amarnath Yatra

Srinagar, June 10 (UNI) J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday chaired a high-level meeting to review preparedness for the annual Amarnath Yatra, directing all departments to ensure timely completion of infrastructure, healthcare, sanitation, connectivity and other pilgrim-centric arrangements
The 56-day pilgrimage begins on July 3 and will conclude on August 28.

2 soldiers killed in accidental blast near LoC in Baramulla
