Forth edition of doubles snooker tournament Kolkata Open 2018 begins

Kolkata, Jan 3 (UNI) The annual edition of Invitation and Doubles Snooker Tournament
KolkataOpen begins today here in Hindusthan Club.
The event started with Pro-Am (Doubles) tournament followed by individual event from
January 4 onwards.
The opening ceremony was graced by the presence of state Minister-in-Charge,
Panchayat and Rural Development Subrata Mukherjee.
He was joined by the president of West Bengal Billiards Association (WBBA) Pradeep
Saraogi, president of Hindusthan Club Shiv Kumar Lohia, Games and Sports Chairman of Hindusthan Club Abhay Kumar Surana and Secretary of Hindusthan Club N K Tulsian,
These championship is featuring professional player Alfie Burden from England, who
remained quarter finalist in two major events last year i.e. European Masters and Gibraltar
Open.
The another professional player is India’s Aditya Mehta who is also former Asian Snooker Champion and the World Games 2011 gold medallist.
The Indian players participating in the competitions two time Asian Champion Yasin
Merchant, 2016 World Masters Champion Dharminder Lilly; Multiple time Asian champion
and current World Masters bronze medallist Alok Kumar; Asian Team Snooker Gold medallist Laxman Rawat and Kolkata’s very own former Asian Billiards Champion Sourav Kothari and
the former World Bronze medallist Brijesh Damani and many more.
