New Delhi, Jan 16 (UNI) Former international president of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) Vishnu Hari Dalmia passed away at his residence here on Wednesday.
He was 91.
Dalmia has been ill for a long time and was admitted to Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals. He was brought home on January 13.
According to VHP spokesman Vinod Bansal, Dalmia breathed his last at 0938 hrs at his residence Radha Ras Dham, located at Delhi's Golf Links.
The body will be kept at his residence till 1500 hrs for people to pay their last respects. The funeral will take place at Nigambodh Ghat of Delhi at 1630 hrs.
Dalmiya was one of the prominent leaders of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Andolan and one of the three major proponents of the movement, along with Ashok Singhal and Acharya Giriraj Kishore.
He joined the VHP in 1979 and became the vice-president, working president and then international president till 2005.
He has long been the managing trustee of Mathura, Lord Sri Krishna's birthplace. He had dedicated his life to the service of cows and the poor.
