Former Pak Foreign Minister Abdul Sattar dies

Islamabad, June 24 (UNI) Pakistan's former foreign minister and high commissioner to India, Abdul Sattar has passed away. He was 88.



"We are deeply saddened to announce that former Foreign Minister Abdul Sattar has passed away," the Pakistan Foreign Office said in a statement.

,

Sattar was foreign minister for two non-consecutive terms in 1993 and later from 1999 to 2002.

A career diplomat, he had also served as Pakistan's foreign secretary from 1986 to 1988.

Sattar was part of Pakistan delegation to the 2001 Agra summit between then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and President Pervez Musharraf.

The Foreign Office described Sattar as an illustrious diplomat and accomplished author, offered condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul.
