Former minister Ajay Mishra 'Teni', son Ashish Mishra booked for threatening witness in Lakhimpur Kheri violence case

Lakhimpur Kheri, Oct 6 (UNI) In a significant development in the 2021 Lakhimpur Kheri violence case, former union Minister of State for Home Affairs Ajay Mishra 'Teni' and his son Ashish Mishra have been booked for allegedly threatening a key witness. The case has been filed following a directive from the Supreme Court, acting on a petition filed by witness Baljinder Singh.
The FIR, lodged at Palia Police Station, names four accused: Ashish Mishra, Ajay Mishra Teni, their associate Amandeep Singh, and one unidentified individual. They have been booked under sections 195A (threatening a witness), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code.
According to the complaint, Baljinder Singh was threatened on August 15 and 16, 2023, and warned against giving testimony in the ongoing case. Fearing for his life, Singh fled to Punjab. In his petition to the Supreme Court, he stated he faced life threats from Ajay Teni, Ashish Mishra, and others. This development ties back to the violence that occurred on October 3, 2021, in Tikunia village, Lakhimpur Kheri district.
