Former J&K LG GC Murmu appointed new CAG

New Delhi,Aug 6 (UNI) President Ram Nath Kovind on Thursday appointed Girish Chandra Murmu as new Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India, a day after he tendered resignation as Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor.
According to official notification issued by the Department of Economic Affairs of the Finance Ministry, the order will be effective from the date Mr Murmu assumes his office.
“By virtue of the power vested in him by the clause (1) of the article 148 of the Constitution of India,the President is pleased to appoint Shri Girish Chandra Murmu to be the Comptroller and Auditor General of India”, the Government notification reads.
