Former FS Kwatra takes over as India's Ambassador to US

Washington/New Delhi, Aug 13 (UNI) Former Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra assumed charge as India's Ambassador to the US and said that the Indian Embassy team will continue to work intensely to strengthen the crucial partnership.
In a post on X after assuming charge on August 12, Kwatra said:
“Privileged to assume charge as the Ambassador of India to the United States of America.
“Team @IndianEmbassyUS will continue to work intensely to strengthen this crucial partnership.”
Kwatra retired as India's Foreign Secretary on July 14, and was appointed India’s Ambassador to Washington.
He succeeds Taranjit Singh Sandhu, who retired from the IFS.
Before becoming Foreign Secretary, Kwatra was India’s Ambassador to Nepal, from March 2020 to April 2022, and Ambassador of India to France and Permanent Representative of India to UNESCO from August 2017 to February 2020.
This is Kwatra’s second stint in Washington DC: from May 2010 to July 2013, he served as the head of the Commercial Wing of the Embassy.
