Former CM Pawan Chamling urges people to use their Constitutional Rights

Gangtok, Aug 15 (UNI) Former Sikkim chief minister Pawan Chamling has wished happy Independence Day to all.
In his message, he has said, ‘As we reflect today on where we have come as a country 73 years since independence from British colonial rule, it seems we are yet to fight a second struggle for independence: that is independence from poverty, illiteracy, fear, casteism, classism, communalism and regionalism. We are yet to find equality among classes, castes and communities.
He has urged Sikkimese to protect and use their Constitutional rights. ‘The democracy that we have won as the people of Sikkim is very costly –to achieve it we merged the erstwhile kingdom of Sikkim with India. We must use democracy and not misuse,’ said Chamling.
