Former CM Oommen Chandy completes 50-yr as MLA: AK Antony inaugurates Golden Jubilee celebrations

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 18 (UNI) Senior Congress leader and AICC working committee member AK Antony on Friday inaugurated the Golden Jubilee celebrations in connection with former chief minister Oommen Chandy who completes 50 years as a Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) at the KPCC office here on Friday.
Inaugurating the event through video conference, AK Antony said the 75-year-old Chandy, who is the most popular face of Congress in Kerala, represents his home town Puthupally in Kottayam district since 1970.
Revealing that he had asked the Congress High Command to bring Oommen Chandy as his successor when he resigned as chief minister in 2004, Antony said he took such a decision when there were allegations that Chandy conspired with the allies to remove Antony from the CM post.
