Ford new model ‘Freestyle’ launched; priced at Rs 5.09 lakh

New Delhi, Apr 26 (UNI) Ford India on Thursday launched Compact Utility Vehicle (CUV) Ford Freestyle, for Indian consumers at a compelling introductory price starting from Rs 509,000.
Ford has pitted the Freestyle against the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20, Honda WRV as well regular sports utility vehicles (SUV) such as Maruti Brezza and Tata Nexon. The sub-4 meter Freestyle undercuts the Baleno priced at Rs 5.35 lakh.
The Freestyle is available in petrol and diesel options having four variants each. The top-end petrol variant costs Rs 6.94 lakh. The base version of the diesel costs Rs 6.09 lakh, and the top-end version is priced at Rs 7.89 lakh.
Powering Freestyle is an all-new 1.2 litre three-cylinder petrol engine that generates peak power of 96ps. The diesel version comes powered by a 1.5 litre, 4-cylinder engine that belts out 100bhp of peak power. Both versions will be mated to a 5-speed gearbox.
Some of the other models that are available in this segment are the Hyundai i20 Activ, Fiat Urban Cross and the Toyota Etios Liva Cross.
Ford India President and Managing Director Anurag Mehrotra said, "The compact utility vehicle is yet another segment created by Ford and will complement our existing portfolio such as the EcoSport and Endeavour".
The car will have airbags as standard across all variants offering up to six airbags on the top-end variant. Other safety features like EBD, ABS and hill assist are also offered.
Ford has put a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system which supports voice commands. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto comes synched with the unit. Reverse parking camera, keyless entry, climate control are a part of the package.
The car will be produced at Ford's Sanand factory and will be exported to Europe and Africa. It will be available in six colours.
