Follow Shanta Kumar’s ‘Adhikar Yatra’ to claim RDG rights: Former MLA Praveen Kumar

Palampur, Feb 18 (UNI) Former Palampur MLA Praveen Kumar on Tuesday urged Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to draw inspiration from the historic ‘Adhikar Yatra’ led by former Chief Minister Shanta Kumar in the 1990s if the state’s claim over Revenue Deficit Grant (RDG) was indeed its right.
In a statement, Kumar said that during the 1990s, Shanta Kumar mobilised party functionaries and elected panchayat representatives and raised a strong voice in Delhi for the state’s financial rights. “The people of Himachal are witnesses to that movement,” he said.
Recalling his participation in the yatra as a BJP mandal office-bearer and Gram Panchayat Darang pradhan, Kumar said the delegation had even endured hardship during their stay in Delhi, but remained firm in pressing for the state’s dues.
