Fog, cold wreak havoc in North India

Shimla/Pune, Jan 21 (UNI) Cold conditions and dense fog wreaked havoc in north India on Tuesday.
Uphills received fresh snowfall and rains hit normal life in the Himalayan states.
Eight people, including four children, who were on a pilgrimage in Nepal died due to suffocation after the heater, which they used in their room to keep themselves warm, malfunctioned.

Industrial expansion planned in MP: CM

Bhopal, Sep 20 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan averred on Sunday that industrial areas will be expanded in Agar, Barod, Nalkheda and Susner plus small units set up with the objective of boosting employment opportunities, it was officially learnt.
The senior politician was speaking on the occasion of bhoomi pujan for construction ventures having a projected expenditure of Rs 7,791.42 lakh and distribution of schemes’ benefits at Agar Malwa District’s Barod Krishi Upaj Mandi.

Indoukh project is boon for MP

Bhopal, Sep 20 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday expressed satisfaction over the fact that the Rs 79.03-crore Indoukh Barrage project – with 28.278 million cubic metres storage capacity – across the Chhoti Kali Sindh river will irrigate 6,100 hectares besides supplying potable water to 23 villages of Mahidpur and Barod tehsils.
The senior politician dedicated to the people a 150-m-long Rs 704.09-lakh bridge over the Kshipra and laid the foundation stone for the 34.75-km-long Mahidpur-Nageshwar road at a projected expenditure of Rs 2,947.92 lakh and the 15.30-km-long Jharda-Gogakheda road (Rs 1,274.18 lakh) under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.

MP CM ayes Kayampur Irrigation venture

Bhopal, Sep 20 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday approved the Kayampur Micro Irrigation Scheme and Saidra Karnali reservoir at a projected expenditure exceeding Rs 2,000 crore for watering approximately 1.25 lakh hectares, official sources said.
“The Modhi Mata shrine will be restored,” the senior politician assured while performing bhoomi pujan and dedicating to the people projects worth Rs 369 crore in Mandsaur District’s Sitamau and Suwasra.

‘Thank you Mama!’ – pupils say to MP CM

Bhopal, Sep 20 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh’s students expressed heartfelt gratitude on Sunday to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan – popularly referred to by his sobriquet ‘Mama’ (maternal uncle) – for providing free-of-charge transport facility to them, in view of the COVID-19 pandemic, for reaching their respective centres for the Joint Entrance Examination and the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test, it was officially learnt.
JEE candidates Visakha Jain and Ritika Rajput, residents of Agar Malwa District’s Barod, met the veteran leader in person. Higher Education Minister Mohan Yadav was among those present on the occasion.
