Floods affect 71 lakh people, eight rivers flowing above red mark in Bihar

Patna, Aug 7 (UNI) As many as 71 lakh people were affected by floods in 16 districts while 23 of them lost their lives even as eight rivers were flowing above the red mark in North Bihar after heavy rains in its catchment areas in the state and Nepal.
According to a release of Central Water Commission, Budhi Gandak and Bagmati rivers were flowing above the danger mark at four measurement stations each, Ghaghra, Adhwara group of rivers,
Kamla Balan and Kosi rivers were above the red mark at two stations each while Ganga and Gandak rivers were above the red mark at one station each when water level was last recorded.
