Flood in river Krishna starts receding

Vijayawada, Sep 29 (UNI) The flood in river Krishna started receding while several villages and residential localities are still in flood water in Krishna and Guntur districts and crops damaged in thousands of acres.
The Prakasam barrage is receiving 5.99 lakh cusecs of flood water from Pulichintala Project and 5.91 lakh cusecs of water was being discharged into sea by lifting 70 crest gates.
Officials here said on Tuesday that so far 578 TMC of water was discharged into the sea from Prakasam barrage during the monsoon season.
