Kushinagar, Oct 20 (UNI) Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia announced that direct flights between Delhi and Kushinagar will commence from November 26.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of Kushinagar International Airport here on Wednesday, he said SpiceJet will operate four flights a week between Delhi and Kushinagar.
He said Kushinagar -- Mumbai direct flights will operate from December 17. Later on, flights will commence between Kushinagar and Kolkata.
Scindia also said that 17 new airports will be built in UP in the future.
Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Union Law and Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju, Union Tourism and Culture Minister G. Kishan Reddy, Union Minister of State for AYUSH (Independent Charge) Sripadyaso Naik, Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Culture Arjun Ram Meghwal, Union Minister of State for Road Transport, Highways and Civil Aviation, General VK Singh, Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture Meenakshi Lekhi, Civil Aviation, Government of Uttar Pradesh Minister Nand Gopal Gupta "Nandi," Kushinagar MP Vijay Kumar Dubey and MLA Rajinikanth Mani also attended the event.
Built at the cost of Rs 260 crore, the Kushinagar International Airport boasts of the longest runway with a length of 3200 meters and width of 45 meters, and can accommodate four big airplanes simultaneously.
