Between work, school and the holidays, the end of the year is always a busy time. If the last quarter of 2021 has you longing for a getaway, you’re not alone. Many people start planning their future vacations at the end of the year. Here are some places you should consider visiting as you plan to travel in 2022.

The Amalfi Coast

There’s no better place to start your travel plans than along the Mediterranean! The Amalfi Coast is a stretch of land off the southern peninsula of Italy. The scenery is breathtaking, with beautiful beaches and brightly colored villages built into the side of mountains and cliffs. 

Visit the towns of Sorrento and Positano for sure. You can stay in one and take quick trips to neighboring areas. There’s so much to do! From hiking and lounging by the water, to shopping and eating, this area of Southern Italy is not to be missed. 

The food is worth traveling for in and of itself. From fine wine to rich coffee, there’s so much pleasure to be found. Enjoy eating at open cafes, and enjoy everything from risotto to fresh, locally caught seafood. 

The Caribbean

While on the topic of beaches, it’s important to highlight the Caribbean as a travel destination. Visit these laid back islands for a relaxing experience you simply cannot get elsewhere. Whether you’re visiting the Bahamas, St. Thomas and St. Martin or Jamaica, you’re sure to enjoy your stay. 

There’s so much to see and do and each island is truly unique. You may want to visit more than one island, so a cruise can be a great option here. A southern Caribbean cruise or northern Caribbean cruise can give you a few days on multiple islands without having to worry about the logistics of getting from place to place. 

The food and drinks are also delicious on the islands. Try rice-based dishes flavored with plantains and Caribbean spices. You’ll also want to enjoy some delicious rum based cocktails. 

Barcelona, Spain

If you’re looking for a mix of beaches and city life, take a trip to Barcelona. Barcelona is one of the most fun cities to walk and enjoy. The city is full of art and culture. Natives are extremely welcoming to tourists and make the experience of visiting so enjoyable. 

Barcelona is full of great architecture as well. You’ll want to visit sites created by Antoni Gaudi. This includes the Sagrada Familia, a beautiful basilica that’s been under construction for decades. 

The food and wine of the area are also worth talking about. Try paella made with fresh seafood. Enjoy a glass of rioja as you sit in an open table cafe. There’s so much to enjoy on a visit to Barcelona. 

Southern Utah

If you’re looking to spend some time outdoors, there’s no better place than Southern Utah. Utah is home to many beautiful national parks. Zion and Bryce are among the finest. They are within close proximity to each other.  They’re only a few hours from Las Vegas, with a beautiful drive through the desert. Once there, you can camp in the parks or stay in a neighboring town and make day trips into the parks. 

These parks offer stunning landscapes and giant mountains to climb or hike. You can take a road trip to the parks. There’s also great kayaking and even horseback riding. Shops outside the park are quaint and a lot of fun to visit after a day outdoors. 

Boston, Massachusetts 

Boston is a beautiful city to spend some time in. Walk the freedom trail and experience Boston history. You can visit the homes and graves of the founding fathers. Enjoy a beer and sandwich in this city that’s known for both. You’ll also want to have a bowl of New England clam chowder while on your visit.
