Pune, Mar 31 (UNI) Five fresh cases reported on Tuesday took the total number of coronavirus infections in the state to 225.

Two people had tested positive for novel coronavirus in Pune while one fresh case was reported from Mumbai and two in Buldhana.

Mumbai, the financial capital of India, is the one of the worst affected cities by the COVID-19.

There are 25 coronavirus patients in Sangli, 23 in Thane region, 16 in Nagpur, five in Ahmednagar, four in Yavatmal, three in Buldhana, two each in Satara and Kolhapur, and one each in Aurangabad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Gondia, Jalgaon, and Nashik, Maharashtra health minister Rajesh Tope said.

A total of 39 COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered from the disease.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has appealed to people not to venture out of their homes to contain the spread. "There is enough stock of essential commodities and the essential services will continue to function," he said.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has started GIS mapping of coronavirus affected areas in the city. The maps of the areas where there are higher number of coronavirus cases, will be posted on the civic body's website, BMC commissioner Praveen Pardeshi said in a release.

With the help of the maps, residents in those areas could take precautions, and people visiting those places for any work could easily take preventive measures, Pardeshi said.
