Five devotees killed as truck hits pedestrians in Kapurthala

Kapurthala, Feb, 8 (UNI) Five people were mowed down by a speedy truck early this morning in Khirawali village in this district.
Rajinder Singh, SSP Kapurthala confirming the deaths said the deceased included four women. They were on their way to the village Gurudwara situated on Fattu Dhinga road at about 0430 hrs to pay obeisance on the pious day of Somavati Amavsya when a speedy truck ran over them killing all of them on the spot.
Truck driver fled from the scene. Police from Fattu Dhinga police station rushed to the spot immediately after it received information. It is learnt that some devotees sustained injuries also. The police started hunting the absconded driver.
