Five contacts of local Omicron-infected person test positive, samples sent for genome sequencing

Bengaluru, Dec 2 (UNI) Karnataka Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar on Thursday said five people have been tested positive for Covid-19 after coming in contact with an Omicron-infected local man and their samples have been sent for genome sequencing for confirmation.
"The 13 primary contacts and 205 secondary contacts of the local infected person have been traced, out of which three among the primary contacts and two among the secondary contacts have been tested positive for Covid-19. They have been isolated and their samples have been sent for genomic sequencing for confirmation," he told reporters here.
Dr Sudhakar confirmed identification of two cases of Covid-19 patients infected with Omicron variant in Karnataka. The 66-year-old patient from South Africa has recovered and left for Dubai after repeat tests confirmed he had recovered from Omicron infection, he said.
