First session of 17th LS adjourned sine die

New Delhi, Aug 6 (UNI) First session of the 17th Lok Sabha was adjourned sine die on Tuesday.
The first session commenced on June 17 and was extended till August 7. However, it was proposed by the Government that the session could be adjourned as maximum legislative business has been completed.
In his valedictory address, Speaker Om Birla described it as a golden session in the history of Lok Sabha
since 1952.
Between June 17 and August 6 , the session witnessed 37 sittings lasting for 280 hours.
The Speaker said the productivity of the House was 125 per cent and the House approved
36 bills including Triple Talaq and the one abolishing Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.
He said 265 first time MPs got a chance to speak in the House as many as 42 women MPs raised various issue
during Zero Hour.
The Speaker said 1066 issues of public importance were raised during Zero Hour.
He said the highlight of the session was zero disturbance.
