First COVID-19 death registered in AP

Vijayawada, Apr 3 (UNI) A 55-year-old person died of Coronavirus in Vijayawada and this is the first Coronavirus death in Andhra Pradesh.
According to the health officials, the deceased went to hospital on March 30, at 11:30 am for medical check-up. However, he died at around 12:30 pm. He was infected COVID-19 from his son. He was tested for positive for COVID-19 after his death. The deceased was suffering from diabetic and hypertension when he went to the government hospital.
Officials said that the son of the deceased person attended Tablighi Jamaat held in Nizamuddin in Delhi and he was tested for positive for COVID-19. He took his father for check-up to hospital. Before the test results received, he died. After his death the test reports confirmed that he was suffered from COVID-19 virus. The official identified 29 persons, who were in the contact of the son and father duo and all the 29 persons were sent to quarantine centre.
Meanwhile, the COVID-19 positive cases have risen to 161 in Andhra Pradesh. According to official report, a total of 161 positive cases were reported positive in the State of which 140 were related to the Tablighi Jamaat event.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy held a review meeting with the officials here on Friday on the measures being taken to control the spread of Covid-19 and the need to continue the supply chain of essential commodities and ensure smooth agricultural operations. The reviewed the presence situation in the state.
The officials explained the Chief Minister that a total of 1085 people attended the Tablighi Jammat event and 946 among them are now in AP. Samples were collected and tests have been conducted on them.
Results are out for 881 samples where 108 samples detected positive and 65 test reports are yet to come. About 626 members who came in contact with the event attendants were also tested and 32 among them were detected positive and 335 test reports are yet to come, said officials.
