Fire dept to use water from Dal Lake, Jhelum to improve response time

Srinagar, Dec 22 (UNI) In the back drop of increase in the number of fire incidents due to dry weather conditions in the Kashmir Valley, fire department has launched a drive to clean various vital points of Dal Lake and river Jhelum in Srinagar to use water source to improve response time in dousing off flames.
A Fire department official here today said the department has launched a drive to clean various vital points of Dal Lake and river Jhelum, which will be used to draw water by pumps to douse off the inferno in these areas.
He said today the department cleaned a point at Choont Kaul, an outlet of world famous Dal Lake, which will be used to draw water if there was any fire incident in the area.
“The decision to clean these points was taken keeping in view the increase in fire incidents and to improve response time,” he said.
The official said various other vital points of Dal Lake and river Jhelum will be cleaned in the coming days.
