Fines after fines show state is not fine: AAP

Panaji, Aug 20 (UNI) Aam Adami Party (AAP) in Goa on Tuesday said that the recent imposition of fine of Rs one crore and Rs 10,000 by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) for every day’s delay in furnishing report on private forests was yet another instance that reflected the complete decay in the administration which was only blowing up tax payer’s money to pay cost of it’s incompetence.
Addressing a press conference in the city, AAP leader on environment Sidharth Karapurkar, in the presence of party leaders Pradeep Padgaonkar and Valmiki Naik, said earlier it was the Indian Olympic Association which imposed a fine of Rs ten crores for delay in hosting national games.
He informed that the party in a representation submitted to Forest Department had demanded that firstly the entire amount of the fine should be paid from the pocket of the forest minister and the concerned secretary and officers and secondly that the underhand dealings to amend the report to favour those with vested interest should be stopped.
