Finance Commission meets ULB, PRI representatives of Telangana

New Delhi, Feb 18 (UNI) The 15th Finance Commission on Monday met the representatives of the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) of Telangana and discussed the impact of GST on ULBs due to issues like subsuming of entertainment tax and compensation to ULBs by state government.
They also discussed the issue of supply of free water across Telangana, the functioning of the SPVs set up by the state government for various projects. The meeting also focused on the issue of the State Finance Commission (SFC-I) - constituted on March 16, 2015 - which is yet to submit its report.
The Commission also met the representatives of the Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) of the state. They had detailed discussions on several issues highlighted by the representatives and sought by the Commission.
The panel had recommended grants for only gram panchayats out of three tiers of PRIs. The state government was asked about its views on this arrangement.
