Final phase of local body poll underway in Telangana

Hyderabad, May 14 (UNI) The third and final phase of election to Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituencies (ZPTC) and Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituencies (MPTC) in Telangana which began at 0700 hours on Tuesday was now in progress.

The polling will conclude at 1700 hours except in extremists affected areas where the voting will end an hour earlier at 1600 hours.

Braving the blazing sun, voters queued up at many polling booths to exercise their franchise.

No major poll-related incidents were reported so far.

In the final phase, election was being held for 161 ZPTCs and 1708 MPTCs involving an electorate of over 46.64 lakh.

Elaborate security and other arrangements were made to ensure peaceful conduct of the election.

The first and second round of Rural local bodies election was held on May 6 and 10.

The counting of the votes polled in all the rounds will be taken up on May 27.
