Mexico City, June 11 (UNI) The FIFA World Cup 2026 burst into life on Thursday night with a grand, music-filled opening ceremony at the iconic Estadio Azteca, where global stars Shakira and Burna Boy headlined a spectacular celebration marking the start of football’s biggest tournament.
The Colombian superstar Shakira lit up the stage as she performed the official tournament anthem “Dai Dai”, joined by Nigerian music sensation Burna Boy. Their high-energy performance brought the packed stadium to its feet, as the World Cup song echoed around the historic venue and set the tone for a vibrant global sporting festival.
The ceremony opened with a visually stunning tribute to Mexico’s rich cultural heritage, featuring hundreds of dancers performing synchronized routines across the pitch. At the centre of the stadium stood a giant World Cup trophy installation, around which the performance unfolded in a powerful display of colour, tradition, and national pride.
