FIFA U-17 World Cup: PM extends wishes to all participating nations

New Delhi, Oct 6 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi today conveyed his best wishes to all the 24 teams participating in the FIFA U-17 World Cup, kicking-off this evening at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here.

The U-17 World Cup is the first ever FIFA event in the country which will witness the presence of Prime Minister, FIFA general secretary Fatma Samoura and head of FIFA tournaments Jaime Yarza on the opening day on Friday.

"A warm welcome and best wishes to all teams taking part in the FIFA U-17 World Cup. I am sure FIFA U-17 World Cup will be a treat for football lovers," Mr Modi said in a statement.

Significantly, the boys in blue have been placed in Group A along with Ghana, US and Colombia. The Indian team will clash against US in their campaign opener.
