FIFA U-17 World Cup: India goes down 1-2 against Colombia

New Delhi, Oct 9 (UNI) Despite showing a fighting spirit, the boys in blue went down 1-2 against Colombia in their second encounter of Group A in the ongoing FIFA Under-17 World Cup here on Monday night. The Indian team suffered their second defeat in the tournament and will now take on Ghana here on October 12. With both the teams going goalless in the first half, Colombia's Juan Penaloza put the opponents on back foot in the 48th minute. With things looking to go down for India as the game progressed, Jeackson Thounaojam's header in the 81st minute not only equalised the score but also brought down the entire Indian crowd on their feet. With both the teams trying hard to take a lead in the dying minutes, it was again the visitors who tasted success as Penaloza striked again to make it 2-1 for the American giants. Despite a good show, the boys in blue were unable to equalise the issue in the remaining time of the game to take their second defeat. After back to back losses against US and Colombia, hosts India will now take on Ghana in their last league game of the tournament on October 12 here. UNI KU PS 2216
