FIFA U-17 World Cup: Ghana beats Colombia, New Zealand plays draw against Turkey

New Delhi, Oct 6 (UNI) Two-time champions Ghana kicked-off their FIFA U-17 World Cup campaign on a winning note as they defeated Colombia 1-0 in the Group A match at the JawaharLal Nehru stadium here this evening. It was Sadiq Ibrahim for Ghana who scored the lone goal in the 39th minute of the match. Both the sides gained plenty of scoring oppurtunities however, it was Ghana who clinched the issue to take full three points. While Colombia next play hosts India on October 9, Ghana will take on the United States of America.  In an another game of the day, New Zealand played a 1-1 draw against Turkey in the opening Group B encounter at the D Y Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai. Turkey took an early lead in the 18th minute after a headed goal by striker Ahmed Kutucu. However, the Kiwi captain Max Mata scored an equaliser in the 58th minute. UNI KU SHK 2027
