FIFA President Gianni Infantino reported to ethics body over public support for US President Donald Trump

Washington, Dec 10 (UNI) FIFA President Gianni Infantino has been reported to the organisation's Ethics Committee after he publicly praised US President Donald Trump for his role as a global peace broker, and awarded him the inaugural FIFA Peace Prize, a London-based human rights group said on Tuesday.
Infantino, speaking at the 2026 World Cup draw in Washington, DC last Friday, described Trump as "a close friend" and said the prize was being awarded for the president's "unwavering commitment to advancing peace and unity".
His comments immediately triggered scrutiny over FIFA rules that require officials to maintain strict political neutrality, reports Axios.
