Saransk, Russia, June 19 (UNI) Japan's Yuya Osako's 73rd minute header delivered Japan a thrashing win over Colombia by 2-1 in their opening match Group H match on Tuesday.
Colombia goalscorer reluctantly made way for Rodriguez, in the 59th minute, but failed to clinch the victory.
At halftime Colombia and Japan were settled at 1-1 at halftime.
Japan's Shinji Kagawa converted penalty into a goal and put Japan 1-0 ahead in the match.
Later, Colombia's Juan Quintero's also hit the net and and equalised the score before the interval.
In the previous world cup encounter Colombia won the the match by 4-1 in June 2014; it was also Japan's last game in the tournament
