FICCI President & IMFA MD Subhrakanta Panda conferred with Business Eminence award

Bhubaneswar, March 20 (UNI) Odisha has the potential to become a 1 trillion collar state economy, Managing Director of Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys Ltd (IMFA) and president of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) Subhrakant Panda said.

Panda, the first ever Odia to become FICCI president, was conferred with the Business Eminence award at a function here on Monday organized by English daily Orissa Post and Odia daily Dharitri.

Orissa Post Editor Tathagata Satpathy and MSME minister Pratap Keshari Deb conferred the award to Panda.

Speaking on the occasion Panda said award like the Business Eminence award are necessary to recognise and encourage entrepreneurs to keep doing their work and inspire others to follow in their footsteps.

He said that in recent times Odisha is doing great by turning into a leading investment destination on the basis of reforms and measures to improve the ease of doing business.

Odisha, he said, ranked first in Investment Implementation rate and consistently among the top three investment destinations.

The third edition of Make in Odisha was a huge success with huge investment. Odisha’s average annual growth rate of Industrial sector in last nine years is 5.3 percent as against the national average of 3.6 percent

The IMFA MD said it is very important for the manufacturing sector to step up and increase the growth rate for which the state government had come up with a special incentive package for attracting investment in new age and emerging sectors like Electric Vehicles, Green Energy equipment.

Odisha, he said is very active in promoting startups with O-Hub a World Class Incubation Centre with Best-in-Class Services for the Startups of Odisha and 1500 registered startups in the state.

MSME Minister Pratap Keshari Deb who attended the award function as chief guest said Odisha received investment intent of Rs 10.5 lakh crore in 2022 Make in Odisha Conclave.

The state government , he said, had prepared 11 policies and provided subsidies to new businesses .The local entrepreneurs must use these policies and facilities provided by the government.

Deb said our goal is to make Odisha a manufacturing hub and for that we have to change the mindset and create the business environment in the state.

People must have the mindset to become entrepreneurs which is not happening in states like Gujarat and Punjab.

Editor of Orissa POST and Dharitri Tathagata Satpathy said "Odisha is an agrarian economy and the state is trying to turn into an industrial economy.He said through this business Eminence award we try to recognize new and talented entrepreneurs from different fields.
Satpathy said Industry in our state has chequered history, evolving from agri-based society Odisha is now a modern industrial and mining dependent economy.
