Festive mood at Kamala Harris’ ancestral village in TN

Tiruvarur, Jan 20 (UNI) The residents of non-descript Thulasendrapuram village – the ancestral village of United States Vice President-elect Kamala Harris in Tiruvarur district of Tamil Nadu conducted special puja at “Sri Dharma Sastha Sevaga Perumal Temple” on Wednesday for the well-being of Kamala Harris, prior to her assumption of office.

Thulasendrapuram is the ancestral village of Kamala Harris, as her maternal grandfather P.V.Gopalan, a former Indian diplomat was born here. Gopalan and his wife Rajam Gopalan left the village in the 1930’s along with his family to Chennai, where Shyamala Gopalan, mother of Kamala, was born.

Puducherry, Mar 6 (UNI) Puducherry District Magistrate Purva garg imposed restrictions on political meetings, campaigns and electioneering by parties under section 144 of Cr PC 1973 and Disaster management Act 2005.
In her order here on Saturday, Ms Garg said this is to ensure conduct of the assembly election on April 6 in a peaceful manner with regard to public safety and tranquility amidst ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic.
