Fernando Alonso joins 'do not drink and drive' campaign

Singapore, Sept 19 (UNI) In a bid to encourage people not to Drink and Drive, Spanish Formula One racing driver and the two-time World Champion Fernando Alonso has signed a global petition - 'Join The Pact'.


   The 36-year old, who is currently racing for McLaren-Honda, met bollywood star Rannvijay Singh and former professional racing driver Mika Hakkinen during the just concluded Singapore Gran Prix and the trio signed the Johnnie Walker’s 'Join The Pact' initiative, which is a global campaign that encourages people to never drink and drive.


   Significantly, Mika, drivers of McLaren Honda and Sahara Force India are the ambassadors of the campaign. Mika, who is the 1998 and 1999 Formula One World Champion, has visited over 40 countries to spread the applaudable message. The campaign, which marked its 10th year in 2017, aims to collect five million commitments by end of 2018. For every commitment collected, 1km of safe rides home is given back by Johnnie Walker.
