Farraka express derailment: UP CM announces Rs 2 lakh ex-gratia

Rae Bareli, Oct 10 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday announced Rs 2 lakh solatium to the next of the kin of the passengers killed in Farraka express derailment.

The incident occurred at Harchandpur railway station at 0630 hrs this morning, in which six passengers were killed and 35 others injured.

The CM has also announced Rs 50,000 compensation for the critically injured.

UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, who is the local MP, could visit those affected today.

Ms Gandhi, along with her son and Congress president Rahul Gandhi, are expected to visit Allahabad.

Lucknow-Rae Bareli rail route was disrupted, while several trains were cancelled or diverted.

Railways has also announced several helpline numbers: Varanasi 0542-2503814, Lucknow 9794830975, 794830973 Pratapgarh 05342-220492 Rae-Bareli 0535-2213154.
