Farmers, transporters join Petro dealers on reduction in VAT on fuels

Chandigarh, Dec 17 (UNI) The Petrol Pump Dealers Association, Punjab ( PPDAP), along with Bhartiya Kisan Union (Lakhowal), Bhartiya Kisan Union (Rajewal), and Transporters Unions and Industrialists, on Monday submitted memoranda to the Deputy Commissioners throughout the state, seeking reduction in VAT on petrol and diesel, to bring it at par with Chandigarh and neighbouring states.
A large number of farmers and petrol pump dealers gathered in front of the DC offices in Punjab and staged a dharna, in protest against higher fuel prices in Punjab, due to higher VAT rates.
PPDAP president Paramjit Singh Doaba, other office bearers and core executive members submitted a memorandum to Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal, here on Monday.
